Shabangu part of syndicate charged over contract scams

Four suspected fraud syndicate members who allegedly fleeced unsuspecting people of large amounts of money, promising them lucrative contracts, have made a brief appearance in court. Singer-turned-pastor Lucky Shabangu, of the 1990s R&B boy group Twins, appeared alongside his three co-accused in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, where their case was postponed to April 20 for formal bail applications. Shabangu, Khosi Moorosi Tsita, 39, from Cape Town, Prince Chengeta, 51, from Botswana, and Natanje Harvey, 37, from Alberton, were arrested more than a week ago on fraud charges. They allegedly ran a scam through which people were promised lucrative contracts in the SADC, and in other impoverished and war-ravaged African countries.
